The government is committed to:

• giving every pupil, regardless of their background the best start in life
• breaking down the barriers to every child achieving and thriving at school and in later life, by ensuring they are ready to learn, supporting parents to work and tackling poverty

Delivering on the government’s manifesto commitment to ensure every state funded school with primary-aged pupils in England offers a free breakfast club open to all pupils, DfE is starting a national roll out of free breakfast clubs from April 2026.
