Meet the Governors

The core functions of the Governing Board are identified within the DfE Governance Handbook as:
- ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
- ensuring the voices of school stakeholders are heard
Our governors have developed a range of guidance documents to support working with the school and inform the wider community of its operating practice and principles.
Information about our Governors – “who they are, and what they do” – can be found in the ‘Your Guide’ document. The guide outlines our governor profiles; details their individual roles and responsibilities; provides information about the governance committees and meetings; and, gives details on the governor selection process.
Governors Yearly Planner for 2024/25
A ‘Yearly Planner’ identifies the strategic aims of the Governing Board, and outlines how they work in partnership with the school. The planner supports the collective governing body to manage and monitor its engagement with the school, and provides key information relating to reporting, meeting agendas, and committee dates and times.
The Code of Conduct identifies the operating standards of the Governing Board and includes a statement of intent to equality, diversity and inclusion. As a collective governing body the Governing Board at Bowesfield seek to create an environment where equality and inclusivity can flourish. The Governing Board have chosen not to publish relating EDI information to respect the privacy of individuals.

Bowesfield Governor Attendance
Our Governors like to keep the Bowesfield Community informed of their engagement with the school and each term they produce a ‘Letter to Families’. The letters help to keep the families and friends of our children up to date with our governors activities during their visits into school.
